The Stage6 team went all in once again and proudly presents the latest version of their high-end rear shock absorber: Stage6 R/T MKII Upside Down rear shock absorber for Piaggio Zip / Typhoon.
The previous model has been the gold standard in race-grade suspension for over 10 years. With the MKII, Stage6 aimed to push performance even further to meet the demands of hardcore tuners and racers.
Developed in close collaboration with top engineers and technicians who bring deep experience in racing and Piaggio Zip setups. The Zip runs with two individual mono shocks (this one is the rear), and handling is very different from a motorcycle, mainly due to its chassis, seat height, and asymmetrical engine layout.
After extensive bench testing and real-life race track sessions, Stage6 created a shock that adapts perfectly to the rider’s style and delivers sharp, responsive performance with maximum grip, even under extreme racing conditions.
The Stage6 R/T MKII is a hydraulic gas pressure shock absorber with an external reservoir, just like you’d find in true high-end tuning builds. To match the suspension to your weight, riding style, and track, it comes with these settings:
- Preload (at the spring base)
- Compression (orange adjusting screw)
- Rebound (black adjusting screw)
With these settings, the shock absorber can be perfectly adjusted to the rider’s weight and compression damping and rebound damping can be precisely controlled. The adjustment range is optimized, i.e. each click makes a noticeable difference.
You can also adjust rear axle height, which allows you to influence overall handling, as well as braking performance and cornering behavior. The shock absorber is adjustable by +/- 40mm and fits all currently available Piaggio engine cases – original Piaggio, Malossi C-One / RC-One, Polini P.R.E., Top Performances, or Ottopuntouno / 8.1.
Additional tuning possible with springs in different stiffness levels (sold separately).

Note: This shock absorber only fits models with a Piaggio engine (bottom mount 34mm / top mount grub screw M8).
How to find the right shock absorber?
In general, all shock absorbers for 50cc scooters are very similar and have a 20mm wide mount at the bottom and an “eye” with a diameter of 10mm at the top. Scooters with Piaggio engines have a 34mm wide mount at the bottom and a grub screw at the top. Of course, there are also exceptions.
Please check the dimensions on your vehicle. The length of the shock absorber can be adjusted by 2-3cm to adapt the seat height or the handling to your personal preference. A longer shock absorber allows for a slightly sportier ride.
